From some of the printer vendors, the departmental-grade printers tend to last longer and be supported longer, though are more costly to purchase.How do I get my CanonMP250 to work having just installed Catalina ?In general, the sequence for configuring the vendor-provided drivers for a printer.Look up the specs for that printer using a web search engine (DuckDuckGo, Google, whatever) and see if the printer supports AirPrint and/or IPP/IPPS printing. AirPrint and IPP/IPPS support can mean simpler or no add-on drivers. That printer support topped out at OS X 10.9 and Windows 8.1, per the published specs.I tend to use departmental-grade Brother MFW-series printers, and particularly models that support AirPrint and IPP/IPPS, and often also with telnet, and lpr/ldp, and raw-port 9100 printing. The profusion of Canon and maybe-Canon-maybe-not web sites is confusing, too.But you’re probably headed for rather more effort, or for a replace ent with a supported printer.Having run a web search using DuckDuckGo search engine, the following web page is located:When I check the downloads link there, there’s no driver package available for Catalina.Per the Canon support specs: Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP/2000 and Mac OS X v10.3.9 to v10.5.xWhich are all very old. If there’s no driver package available, contact the printer vendor support. That’d apparently be Canon PIXMA MP250, here.Canon is a bit of a mess here, as figuring out which web sites are really Canon and which may be other folks spoofing Canon is not clear.Once you have the vendor drivers from what looks like the vendor web site—again, the Canon web support is seemingly a mess here—find the package for your macOS version (if there is one available) download and install the driver package. Do NOT abbreviate, do not shorten, do not edit the device name. Search for the correct and complete printer name, as listed on the printer por the printer documentation.Or use the AirPrint and/or the IPP/IPPS path, if the printer supports that. Full names, web search, read the specs, check for downloads, install the drivers. And I don’t see support for AirPrint or IPP/IPPS listed in the specs.For the official answer?
